In 2004, Former Mayor Jerry DiTullio and Director of the Wheat Ridge Rec Center Joyce Manwaring were the original founders of the Wheat Ridge Foundation. The Foundation's mission quickly expanded from support for public art to include funding for city-wide events and fiscal sponsorship for volunteer-led community organizations that enhance quality of life for all Wheat Ridge residents.

Donations to the endowment fund(s) will assist the Foundation in becoming self-funding.
