Million-dollar trio joins the staff
at the Game Show Boot Camp
A trio of game show legends with nearly $1,000,000 in earnings between them ― Jason Zuffranieri, Brandon Blackwell, and Victoria Groce ― have signed on to join the fun and share their wisdom at the Game Show Boot Camp in Las Vegas next month.
The Game Show Boot Camp is 48 hours of workshops and advanced training for anyone who wants to learn from the best how to get on their favorite show… and win. The big weekend, which will also include auditions for the game show Jeopardy!, will take place in Las Vegas on August 19-21, 2022. The three new Titans join a winning staff lineup that already includes game show legends James Holzhauer, Brad Rutter, Amy Schneider, and Muffy Marracco.
Victoria Groce is known as The Queen on the hit game show The Chase. Alex Trebek called her a “giant killer” after she beat 19-time champion Dave Madden on Jeopardy! in 2005. As the first female chaser on ABC’s The Chase, she’s now one of the giants herself. Victoria is well known in the international quizzing community, and was a member of the victorious American team at the 2021–22 Quizzing World Cup.
Also a chaser on The Chase ― where he’s known as The Lightning Bolt ― Brandon Blackwell jokes that he is a “trans-Atlantic television quiz villain.” Blackwell won $43,000 in a 2012 appearance on the U.S. version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, and the next year won $333,416 as the second-place finisher on NBC’s prime-time Million Second Quiz. As a member of the team from Imperial College London, he won top prize on the prestigious BBC show University Challenge in 2020.
Math teacher and puzzle expert Jason Zuffranieri tried for 25 years to get onto Jeopardy! and finally made it in 2019, winning 19 games and over $500,000. He credits his preparation for taking what could have been merely a pleasant experience and turning it into a life-changing one. “Everyone who makes it to the stage knows plenty of facts,” he says, “so the player who is most comfortable up there and knows what to expect will have the edge.”
All three experts will be on hand to take part in the weekend’s Game Show Boot Camp workshops and share personal tips with campers. They’ll also be on stage for the TITAN THROWDOWN, the big Saturday night event where lucky campers will match wits with the best of the best in a game show-style contest.
“With the expertise and wisdom of the greatest champions at your service, Game Show Boot Camp will get you as ready as you can be to take on the world,” says Zuffranieri. Adds Victoria Groce: "Game Show Boot Camp promises to be an excellent opportunity to learn how to make yourself a better contestant, and to compete against the best of the best to boot!"
The Game Show Boot Camp will be held just off the Las Vegas Strip at the Hampton Inn Tropicana, 4975 Dean Martin Drive. The Titan Throwdown will take place nearby at The Space, 3460 Cavaretta Court in Las Vegas, on Saturday evening, August 20.
The Game Show Boot Camp is a fundraiser for a very good cause: Project 150 (project150.org), a Las Vegas non-profit providing free support and services to homeless, displaced and disadvantaged high school students.
